Worship at St Barts

At St Barts, we believe worship is at the center of our community.

All are welcome to worship with us at St Barts. We worship in the Anglican tradition, using the Book of Common Prayer as our guide. We generally worship using Rite II from the BCP, at our 8:15 am service on Sundays use music to enhance the liturgy. Feast days see us complementing our services with traditions from our rich Anglo-Catholic heritage, and simple weekday services are held on Wednesdays and other holy days.

Our services are made up of the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Table. In the Liturgy of the Word we hear several readings from the bible (we follow the Revised Common Lectionary, which is read in a 3-year cycle) as well as a sermon discussing the readings, and often tying in current issues, events, or the liturgical season. The Liturgy of the Table brings us to contemplative prayer and our Eucharist.

Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion, is where we share bread and wine as a community, in remembrance of the meal Jesus shared with his disciples before he was crucified. All who desire to receive the body and blood of Christ at communion are welcome God’s table.

The Anglican service is participatory, and all are invited to follow along using the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), provided in the pews to churchgoers.

All liturgy and worship come from the Book of Common Prayer. Revised through the years, it is a uniquely Anglican compilation of liturgies and prayers that descends from the earliest days of the Church and growing forth from the Church of England. St. Bart’s heritage is in the High Church, or Anglo-Catholic expression of the sacramental nature of those liturgies of the BCP. Occasionally we use other liturgies as authorized by the Anglican Church.

Join us on Sundays at 8:15 am or 10:30 am (during the summer - 9:30 am), and visit our Services page to explore the various aspects of our Sunday services. We would love to see you in church soon!
